OG Peachie was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the middle of the civil rights movement, something she credits for her deep relationship with activism. To this day, her first memory of community is of the National Guard occupation of her neighborhood following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in April of 1968.Ā
The name, which many ask about, is a combination of a childhood nickname and the term coined by her grandchildren.Ā
